Great day on Wabatong

I am new to the blog and have been graciously invited by Al & Doris Errington to contribute I will! The islands hold their memories , hold them close and dear, and there are many stories that need to be shared because of the human values and truths that they portray.

People from all walks of life have found their way here and I am fascinated  by the process by which they find us,but they all have a common denominator..the need to be nurtured by nature. We have had firemen from ground zero of the World Trade Center attack with stories that are heart rendering, but also inspire. Detectives from some of the toughest city beats, Doctors without Borders worn thin, engineers whose sole purpose was to cover the world in cement who walked away from it all and works now for Ducks Unlimited, life altering experiences on the lake.

It is these stories that I would like to tell's all true...for when you take a human being who is vulnerable and add the elements of the worlds largest game preserve, coupled with compassionate  the end result is magic....

The level of service is very high here.  Professionalism is standard but what is unique is the ability and the opportunities presented to make a connection with our guests and creates a win-win situation in which the guest will return year after the geese that flock... time after time. They are welcomed back as family and are an important part of  the whole.

I am so honoured to be part of the staff at Erringtons  Wilderness Islands.  I returned after a 5 year hiatus, but once again ,life has put me back on the moss covered trails of  islands on Wabatong and am so excited to see what will happen next, what new stories  lie in wait for me and those who find themselves here!

Into the Wilderness at Errington's Wilderness Island

Had a very busy opening weekend this year with the Michigan Outdoor Writers Association meeting here. One of the writers, Tom Pink, wrote a great article about his experiences here in the Soo Evening News. You can read the article at: Really nice shore lunch pictures as well as pictures of our wood fishing boats and Tom doing some paddle boarding on Lake Wabatongushi. Enjoy your summer!

Spring on Wabatongushi Lake

Errington’s Wilderness Islands
May 11th/2013 – May 30th/2013

Hey Everyone!
My name is Franky Corbiere I will be blogging all this summer for the Erringtons. This is my 3rd year here at the resort. My previous stints were in 07 and 08, around 5 years ago. These are two glorious years that I hold dear and will never forget, so when Abby and Doris had asked me to come up for another summer, I jumped on the opportunity! Enough about me, lets get on with the adventures, tall tale’s and all that good stuff in between!

Here is the first picture we took off the train. "We have to go across that?" Should of brought my skates!

Here are a few more shots of us traveling across Lake Wabatongushi. On this last shot, you can see the main lodge in the distance. What an adventure getting here!

Male grouse that hangs around the lodge. Some of his lady friends are around here somewhere....

Some of my co-workers, Mat and Larry getting things done to open up the main lodge.

Here is a morning shot I took from the main lodge. Love Wabatongushi mornings.

Walleye fishing with my co workers.(left to right-Peej, Mat and Teddi)

Here are a few more shots that I took and enjoy. Hope you will too.
