Secure Driverse Licenses instead of Passports for Michigan, Vermont, New York and Washington State for crossing border from Canada

Residents of Michigan, Vermont, New York and Washington State can now get secure drivers licenses that they can use for identification for driving back into the United States from Canada, instead of passports. Secure drivers licenses are much less expensive than passports, and take much less time to apply for.

Secure enhanced drivers licenses cannot be used for ID for flights, but they are just as acceptable as a passport if you are driving back into the United States from Canada. Passports are not required to enter Canada from the United States. And enhanced drivers license, or a regular drivers license accompanied by a birth cirtificate or some other ID shoing citizenship is fine.
